CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC IDENTITY PORTFOLIO
The Cultural and Linguistic Identity Portfolio (CLIP) is a hands-on tool meant for culturally diverse schools to invite their students‘ complex identities into the classroom. Through the six imaginative activities of the portfolio, students reflect on their cultural heritage, while at the same time getting familiarized with that of their peers, this all resulting in a happy intercultural buzz.
However, the portfolio goes further than celebrating diversity, as it also actively challenges stereotypes and dismantles the harmful taboo on multilingualism by giving space to students‘ languages.
CULTURELE EN TALIGE IDENTITEIT PORTFOLIO
Het Culturele en Talige Identiteit Portfolio (CTIP) is een handig middel bedoeld voor cultureel diverse scholen om de complexe identiteiten van leerlingen te verwelkomen in de klas.
Door de zes fantasierijke activiteiten in het portfolio reflecteren leerlingen op hun culturele erfgoed terwijl zij tegelijk bekend raken met dat van hun klasgenoten, wat resulteert in een vrolijke interculturele sfeer. Echter, het portfolio gaat verder dan het vieren van diversiteit gezien het ook actief stereotypes uitdaagt en het schadelijke taboe op meertaligheid ontwapend door de ruimte te bieden aan de talen van leerlingen.

Das Portfolio „Kulturelle und sprachliche Identität“ ist ein praktisches Tool für Schulen mit kultureller Vielfalt, um die unterschiedlichen Identitäten ihrer SchülerInnen in den Unterricht einzubringen. Die sechs kreativen Übungen des Portfolios ermöglichen es den SchülerInnen, ihr kulturelles Erbe zu reflektieren. Gleichzeitig beschäftigen sie sich mit der Herkunft ihrer MitschülerInnen und so entsteht ein buntes gemeinsames Ganzes. In den Übungen hinterfragen SchülerInnen auch Stereotypen,
die im Zusammenhang mit Mehrsprachigkeit auftreten.

The booklet is based on principles from Culturally Responsive Teaching and focuses on personal aspects of culture. The booklet is bilingual: English and Dutch.
